During the G-20 meeting in Europe President Obama
apologized to the attendees for past American arrogance in dealings with Europe.
President Obama reiterated the same theme in later speeches
in other venues (ie, Germany, France, UK).

If I added correctly the count is 104,366 dead
and we have to watch an American elected leader
who apologizes to Europe and the Middle East
that our country is "arrogant"!

At least these countries know how to pay tribute to our military dead.
What beautiful, well kept cemeteries! A BIG thank you to them.
Americans paid a BIG price for Europe's freedom too!!!

THE BEST MEMORIAL DAY SPEACH WAS NOT
GIVEN ON MEMORIAL DAY.
IT WAS GIVEN ON NOVEMBER 19, 1863

IN GETTYSBURG:

Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth, upon this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.
Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation, or any nation so conceived, and so dedicated, can long endure. We are met here on a great battlefield of that war. We have come to dedicate a portion of it as a final resting place for those who here gave their lives that that nation might live. It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this.
But in a larger sense we can not dedicate - we can not consecrate - we can not hallow this ground. The brave men, living and dead, who struggled, here, have consecrated it far above our poor power to add or detract. The world will little note, nor long remember, what we say here, but can never forget what they did here.

It is for us, the living, rather to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they have, thus far, so nobly carried on. It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us - that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they here gave the last full measure of devotion - that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain; that this nation shall have a new birth of freedom; and that this government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.

TOMB OF THE UNKNOWNS
My dedication to this sacred dutyIs total and whole
hearted-In the responsibility bestowed on me
Never will I falter-
And with dignity and perseveranceMy standard
will remain perfection.
Through the years of diligence and praise
And the discomfort of the elements
I will walk my tour in humble reverence
The best of my ability.
It is he who commands the respect I protect
His bravery that made us so proud.
Surrounded by well meaning crowds by day,
Alone in the thoughtful peace of night,
This soldier in honored Glory restUnder my eternal vigilance.

The sentinel marches 21 steps across the black mat, past the
final resting places of the Unknown Soldiers of
World War I, World War II, Korea,
and the crypt of the Unknown Soldier of the Vietnam War.
With a crisp turn, the sentinel turns 90 degrees to face east for 21 seconds.
The sentinel then turns a sharp 90 degrees again
to face north for 21 seconds. A crisp "shoulder-arms"
movement places the rifle on the shoulder nearest the visitors to signify
that the sentinel stands between the tomb and any threat.
After the moment, the sentinel paces 21 steps north, turns
and repeats the process.
The practiced cadence is timed so that the sentinel paces at
a rate of 90 steps each minute.
AND MOST OF ALL, NEVER FORGET THIS:
GOD BLESS THOSE WHO SERVE, AND HAVE SERVED.
