Do you know what happened back on September 9, 1850, 158 years ago?

California became a state.
The State had no electricity.
The State had no money.
Almost everyone spoke Spanish.
There were gunfights in the streets.

So basically, it was just like it is today,
except the women had real breasts,
and the men didn't hold hands.

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger tries to approve a budget
that solves the state's $24.3 billion shortfall by Tuesday.

"It's clear that if the Legislature does not send a full budget solution to my desk by June 30, California will face an extreme cash-flow problem that will threaten our ability to pay for vital services," the governor said.
Is California going to go bankrupt? The State has a projected $24.3 billion budget deficit for the coming year. Is it like GM "Too Big To Fail" as Democrats like to say. California’s fiscal controller, John Chiang, has called the state’s spending plan “massively unbalanced,” adding that the Golden State is suffering from a cash shortfall not seen since the Great Depression.
Despite the deepening budget crisis, the California Legislature failed to pass a proposed $11 billion in cuts. Maybe they want the American Tax Payer to bail them out also.

House Passes Biggest Tax Increase In American History

219-212
H.R. 2454 Passes House and goes to the Senate
view point 1

And view point 2

This seems befitting:

Revelations 6:4

“And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the fourth beast say, Come and see. And I beheld, and lo a pale horse; and he that sat on him was called Death."

16:17

"The seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air, and out of the temple came a loud voice from the throne, saying, "It is done!"

And we can thank the following Republicans:

These 8 will cause 300,000,000 great financial pain during the worst Recession since the Great Depression. A link has been added to their web sites, so you can write them and leave four words:

These RINO'S will be added to the list with Spectre, Snowe, and Collins of Republicans that must be defeated, and I pledge my support to defeating them. If you are with me, please comment on this link. The bill passed 219-212. If these Republicans would have stood firm, then it would not have passed. I also give credit to the 44 Democrats that voted no on this bill.

The Congressional Budget Office estimated the bill would cost the average household in America around $175 a year, the EPA $80 to $110 a year. Well, we know how Government estimations equal out to how things actually become. Republicans on the other hand questioned the validity of the CBO study and noted that analysis showed actual energy production costs increasing by $770 per household. Industry groups outside the Government sphere of influence have cited other studies showing much higher costs to the economy and to individuals.

Consider it done...

Newt Gingrich urges everyone to go sign the petition to stop the energy tax. It might help the cause if we gave you a link to that. Consider it done.

Today the House is going to vote on this Cap and Trade - more accurately called "Cap and Tax" climate change scam. Any idea as to how big this bill is? Try 1,201 pages. [pdf] Any idea how many members of the House have read the darn thing? Try zero. Yeah, we are talking about a bill that is going to cost us $845 billion over the next 10 years ... and not one House member has read the entire thing.

Michael Jackson: secret library of 100 songs could be released

-- The Second King is Dead

From The:

A secret library of over a hundred songs recorded by Michael Jackson could now be released following his death.
One of the singer's biographers, Ian Halperin, claimed that the unheard songs had been made for his children.
Mr Halperin, author of Unmasked, The Michael Jackson Story said before his death: “He wants to leave them for his kids, a very personal legacy to them. I was told he will not let them come out now.”
Jackson leaves three children Prince, 12, Paris Katherine, 11, and Prince Michael II aged seven.
It is rumoured, given the parlous financial situation of his estate, that any such recordings will not be kept private for long. It is understood Jackson may have gone to the grave under debts of about $400 million – though some believe the true figure may be much higher.
Sales of Michael Jackson’s music and memorabilia have already begun to soar. In America, the Thriller album is number one on iTunes, while his Number Ones album has now reached the top spot on the UK iTunes chart.
Online retailers Amazon say that Jackson’s albums had taken 14 of the top 20 places on the Amazon.co.uk sales chart. The Amazon chart was topped by his first solo album, Off The Wall, which features tracks such as Don’t Stop ’Til You Get Enough and She’s Out Of My Life.
Already, Jackson’s death is beginning to producing a new industry around the star. Outside the Los Angeles hospital where he was pronounced dead, a group of men appeared selling $10 T-shirts with a silhouette of Jackson and reading: “In loving memory of Michael Jackson.” Memorial T-shirts were also being sold at the Glastonbury music festival.
On eBay, bidding grew on a number of Jackson memorabilia items. Limited edition records, musical instruments used by the star and even a movie contract with his signature were being sold for thousands of pounds.
The Neverland ranch and Jackson’s final resting place, if made accessible to the public, could also become lucrative tourist attractions.
Graceland, the mansion owned by Elvis Presley and where he was buried, has become a much-visited landmark. Opening its doors to the paying members of the public is thought to have made the trust that operates Graceland in the region of $100 million.

The Second King of Rock and Pop is Dead at fifty of a heart attack, just weeks before he was going to begin his comeback tour in London. Their were fifty concerts scheduled for London which had sold out in less than ten minutes. As a person in my mid thirties, I grew up in the eighties with Michael's albums, "Thriller" being the most popular. I was not a humongous fan, but enjoyed some of his music. Dirty Diana, Thriller, and Smooth Criminal amongst my favorite. There will be mixed reviews of his legacy seen by different people. He will be remembered by some as the music legend of the past generation to succeed Elvis Presley. Others will say he was a Pop Star who later became a child rapist. I personally believe that the child rape charge was false. For the younger generation who have so many different musical inspirations, they will not know how our generation enjoyed Michael Jackson, because they don't have an icon today like him, or Elvis like my parents.

The Sanford Affair

Coming from a man it is simple. Men are pigs, all men, no exceptions. Especially the Politicians. We can't keep our Dic!!!! in our pants. Not that that is an excuse, but this guy isn't doing anything to his girlfriend that the average politician hasn't done to the average taxpayer. It is however an interesting story. First the Governor of South Carolina goes "missing." Then there is a period of days where he is staff "thinks" he is hiking in the Appalachian Mountains. Then he shows up yesterday and admits that he has been "clearing his head" in Argentina ...... with his Argentinean lover. Then we here that his wife had kicked him out of the Governors mansion weeks ago.

So much for the man that stood a chance to defeat Obama in 2012. This pretty much ends his chances for a run to the White House. Besides ... don't we have a wonderful history of this sort of stuff? John F. Kennedy comes to mind. Then there's Bill Clinton. The Democrats, you will remember, were telling us that this Clinton thing didn't matter ... it was his private life after all.

Then we had John Edwards who's wife was dying of Cancer go off and screw around. Yet because Sanford is a Republican, the media have decided to take off on this story and make it part of the top items to cover in their news cycles. Why didn't they do that with Clinton, Edwards, Kennedy, or others...Because they were Democrats.

The one thing that bothers me the most about this whole ordeal is not the fact that he cheated on his wife, because that happens all to often unfortunately. It is the fact that he disappeared "Hiking in the Appalachians" on Fathers Day. (Hence the picture up top). He has four kids, and I'm sure they would have loved to have been with Daddy on Fathers Day. That to me makes hm a Scumbag. Have trouble with your spouse, okay. But don't let it get in the way of your kids.

All in all this is just another step backward for the Republicans. How the hell are going to face down the Democrats in 2010-2012 with this kind of crap going on. Republican claim to be high on morals, yet this happens when they are at their low points. Do want to use your Second Amendment rights to shoot yourself in the head to get it over with, because hell, you've shot your feet enough times. Times like this I'm glad that I'm a Conservative Independent. Both parties are crap.

(H.R. 2454) “cap and trade” National Energy Tax

Contact Your Representative

This national energy tax would possibly be the largest tax increase in American history, it would cause gas and electricity prices to skyrocket, and add to our already spiraling federal deficit. We simply cannot afford this. A vote may happen by Friday, June 26th.

These are some of the things that it will end up doing if passed:

1). Reduce aggregate gross domestic product (GDP) by $9.6 trillion
2). Destroy an average of 1-3 million jobs, every year
3). Raise electricity rates 90 percent after adjusting for inflation
4). Raise inflation-adjusted gasoline prices by 74 percent
5). Raise residential natural gas prices by 55 percent
6). Raise an average family's annual energy bill by $1,500 annually
7). Increase the federal debt by 26 percent, which is $29,150 per person

3 Presidents, 2 Parties, And 1 Action In Common

What do Presidents Hoover, Truman, and Eisenhower all have in common when it came to Presidential policies during times of economic crises and job creation?
President Hoover had The Great Depression to deal with. Truman had Veterans returning from World War Two that needed employment, and President Eisenhower faced both Korean Veterans needing employment, and an economic downturn.
Here was there answer to solve these great burdens to the American Economy.
Back during the beginning of The Great Depression 1929-1940, President Herbert Hoover ordered the deportation of all illegal aliens in order to make jobs available to American citizens that desperately needed work. This led to what is known today as the Mexican Repatriation. Of course as soon as FDR came into office, he reversed this legislation, but local communities continued to follow The Hoover Plan.
In 1951 President Harry Truman deported over two million Illegals in order to create open jobs for Veterans returning from World War Two. Though the war ended in 1945, and their was a major economic boom, Truman made it a priority to make sure that the Veterans had jobs first. Truman served as a soldier in World War One. It seems funny how Presidents that served their country, care more about Veterans than those who do not serve. (Clinton, Obama). It makes you wonder that if you are going to be the Commander and Chief of the United States Armed Forces, than you should serve in one of the branches, so you know what they are going through, before you make the decision to send them off in harms way. Now of course anti-W folks will say he did not see combat, and they are right, but he did go through basic training, and he did serve, even though it was a short period of time. He put in a greater effort than Draft-Dodging Clinton, or Obama ever did. (To give the eligibility people a laugh: You can't serve unless your a citizen!!!)
Finally in 1954, President Dwight Eisenhower deported 13 million Mexican Nationals! This program took almost two years to complete. America was going through a small economic crises, and jobs were slim. President Eisenhower did this so Korean Veterans would have a better chance at finding jobs. The program and I kid you not was called "Operation Wetback."
President Eisenhower was the last such President in American History to control Illegal Immigration until President Ronald Reagan, who did not actually do any massive deportations, but he put stronger restrictions in place for border crossings. From 1978-1983, The United States entered the deepest recession ever since the Great Depression. This recession was worse than our current 2007-2010 Recession, though we are coming close. President Jimmy Carter did not deport any Illegals weather they be Mexican or any other nationality. Unemployment rose to the double digits, and jobs were impossible to find. Mexicans like in today's Recession went back on their own accord, because they new that jobs were hard to find.
The main question for today is, why doesn't Obama do the same thing that Hoover, Truman, and Eisenhower did? Unemployment is 9.4% and rising. His Stimulus is making things worse. There are now an estimated 20 million Illegal Aliens in this country. Most, if not all are working. Those that are not, are going back to Mexico on their own. How many of those 2o million pay Income Taxes? How many have kids that go to our schools that we tax payers pay for? How many go to the Emergency Room and do not pay, which raises the overall cost of our doctor visits? How much money do we spend on the Immigration issue? Enough is enough. I strongly support the American Dream of coming here, and building a life for anyone and their families. But at the same time, their are laws in place, and those laws must be followed. We are a country that has a "Rule of Law" for a reason. If you want to come here and work and live, great. But do it legally.

News Events: June 24, 2009

Obama will put the U.S. Ambassadors of Syria and Venezuela back in place. Why not just raise the white flag now, and get it over with.

OBAMA'S PRESS CONFERENCE: 55 minutes long, and failed to include the words "Iraq" or "Afghanistan," "Korea," "Pakistan," "soldiers," "surge" and "war." He did not even mention the Army, Navy, Air Force or Marines. but I guess this is what Obama meant by "change you can believe in."
I just love Unions and their idea of common sense. 700 NYC teachers are paid to do nothing.
Speaking of Unions, a recent study by the Heritage Foundation came up with some interesting facts about companies and Unions.

AMA weighs in on Socialized Medicine

complements of Don.

AMA and the Stimulus Bill/Health Care Overhaul

The American Medical Association has weighed in on the new economic stimulus package.

The Allergists voted to scratch it.
But the Dermatologists advised not to make any rash moves.
The Gastroenterologists had sort of a gut feeling about it.
But the Neurologists thought the Administration had a lot of nerve.

The Obstetricians felt they were all laboring under a misconception.
And the Ophthalmologists considered the idea shortsighted.
Pathologists yelled, "Over my dead body!"
While the Pediatricians said, 'Oh, Grow up!'

The Psychiatrists thought the whole idea was madness.
While the Radiologists could see right through it.
Surgeons decided to wash their hands of the whole thing.
The Internists thought it was a bitter pill to swallow.
And the Plastic Surgeons said, "This puts a whole new face on the matter.."

The Podiatrists thought it was a step forward.
But the Urologists were pissed off at the whole idea.
The Anesthesiologists thought the whole idea was a gas.
And the Cardiologists didn't have the heart to say no.

In the end, the Proctologists won out, leaving the entire decision up to the assholes in Washington .

What Goes Around, comes around

"The Bitch gets Slapped"

Perez Hilton says he was punched by Peas' manager...

Mr. Judge, jury, and executioner who got on the radar of people (who do not slobber over the entertainment world) two months ago with his hatred towards a person who did not express the same views that he had. Mario Lavandeira a.k.a. Perez got into an argument with band members of the Black Eyed Peas, Fergie and "will.i.am" at the Cobra nightclub in Toronto early Monday morning. He called will.i.am a "faggot," inside the club after the musician told the blogger not to write about his band on his Web site, and was punched by Polo Molina, the band's tour manager.

Well, all I have to say about that is, what goes around, comes around. During the Miss
America Pageant he talked about slapping Miss California because she did not support Gay Marriage. Well, is that not an opinion that she is entitled too? Perez went off on her, which got peoples attention outside of the entertainment spectrum. Well, in all honesty, I don't give a damn about this guy Lavandeira/Perez, whatever he wants to call himself. Normally I don't cover stupid stories like this, but like anyone, when I see Irony, I laugh.

Maybe now, he will watch his mouth, considering he has a big bump on it. I'm not going to get into the morals of the Marriage issue, or even if Miss California deserves to be Miss America because of some naked pictures, because I don't care. The only thing that bothers me is that a large majority of the people that follow everything about Perez and other Hollywood types, is that they vote. (0% of them have no clue when it comes to politics.

So, hopefully this closes the issue. Payback is a "Bitch".

Keep an eye on H.R. 2847

On Monday, Rep. Steve King (R), from Iowa's 5th District, introduced two amendments to H.R. 2847, the Commerce-Justice-Science Appropriations Bill. He talks about it in his article on the Human Events Blog. (To read all of the information about H.R. 2847, click here.)

One amendment would have kept the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) out of the 2010 Census, effectively barring taxpayer dollars in the bill provided to the Census Bureau from being disbursed to ACORN. The other amendment would have barred any taxpayer dollars in the bill from being provided to ACORN.

Just encase you have been hiding under a rock the past year, ACORN is responsible for over 400,000 fraudulent voter registration forms nationwide, and their main goal as set forth by their founder is to put as many people in the United States (both citizen and non-citizen) on welfare and other Government programs, thus in order to bring about the economic collapse of Capitalism and bring about a Socialist or Communist form of Government.

ACORN is currently under investigation in 14 states for voter fraud and has frequently paid employees on a commission basis to register voters, a practice illegal in many states. According to an October 2008 article in The Economist, during the last election cycle, “in Orlando, home to the Magic Kingdom of Disney, Mickey Mouse tried to register. In Indiana there was an application from a sandwich shop called Jimmy Johns. Authorities in Nevada were surprised to receive voter registration forms from the starting line-up of the Dallas Cowboys.”

Yet through all of this controversy, it has received over $53 million in taxpayer funds. And thanks to Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frank and his liberal friends s an additional $8.5 billion that could be accessed by ACORN. President Obama, a former ACORN employee, has hired ACORN to “partner” with the Census Bureau to complete the 2010 census.

(AND LIBERALS SCREAMED BLUE BLOODY MURDER WHEN HALIBURTON WAS GIVEN FIRST BIDS DURING THE BUSH/CHENEY YEARS) ---Will Liberal bitch as much as they did back then. No, don't think so.

This bill is now in Senate hands, and it is important that we as Americans do everything possible to keep ACORN away from the Census. Its already bad enough that the census was moved from the Commerce Department to Raum Emanuel's office.

What recession? Congress increases budget

What recession? House office budgets go up
The Associated Press
Fri, Jun 19, 2009 (1:03 p.m.)

The recession and rising joblessness has millions of Americans cutting their household budgets, but times are flush for lawmakers.
The House of Representatives, with little comment or opposition, on Friday approved an 8 percent increase in the budget for members' office expenses.
House members will get an average $1.5 million in the budget year starting in October to run their Washington and district offices and cover travel and other official expenses. Overall, the budget for what the House calls members' representational allowances, or MRAs, will jump $51 million to $660 million.
The money is part of a $3.7 billion spending bill to run Congress and its associated agencies such as the Library of Congress and the Capitol Police the House passed Friday.
Tom Schatz, president of Citizens Against Government Waste, said it was "more than ironic that Congress is going in the opposite direction" at a time when most businesses, including those now being run by Washington, are trying to find ways to reduce spending.
"It shows a lack of understanding of how people are getting along these days," he said.

There was little discussion of MRAs during debate on the bill, although Rep. Dean Heller, R-Nev., complained that he had been barred from offering an amendment that would have frozen the money at this year's level.
"I'll be the first to tell you that my office could use an MRA increase," Heller said. "Traveling my largely rural district and staying in touch with thousands of Nevadans takes a significant amount of MRA funds." But with other Americans cutting back, "this body must be a part of this sacrifice, and that starts here, in our offices."
The MRA budget has risen from $555 million in fiscal 2007 to $580 million in 2008 and $609 million this year.
The increase did have its defenders. Rep. Robert Brady, D-Pa., chairman of the House Administration Committee, said in a statement that the demands on member offices have increased dramatically with the economic downturn, "and staff have been called on to work harder and smarter to ensure that we are meeting those growing needs." He noted that Speaker Nancy Pelosi had recently ordered that records of member expenditures be put online to increase transparency and accountability.
Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Fla., who heads the Appropriations Committee panel in charge of the spending bill, said Congress can't compete with salaries and benefits offered by the private sector. They are increasing the MRA "so that we can grow salaries" and "make sure we hold on to the best and brightest."
The overall bill, she added was millions under the $4 billion requested by the administration.
But Jordan Forbes, federal government affairs manager for the National Taxpayers Union, said the increase was "fiscally reckless" in the current economic atmosphere. "Congress is losing its credibility when it tries to make the argument that it is doing everything it can to get the economy back on track." She said how a member votes on the spending bill will be considered in the NTU's ratings of lawmakers.
Congress does pay some attention to public scrutiny of its generosity toward itself. A giant spending bill passed last March contained a provision denying lawmakers the automatic cost-of-living pay increase they are due next Jan. 1.
Each member's expense allowance is determined by a formula that takes into account the distance of their district from Washington and regional difference in the costs of running a district office. Alaska's Don Young thus got one of the highest allowances in 2008, at $1.52 million.
The Members' Handbook, an official guide for lawmakers, provides a detailed list of what does, and does not, qualify for the allowance. Microwaves, periodicals, picture frames and flags are reimbursable, as are food offered in office meetings and expenses related to drug testing or translating services. Food provided for social events and holiday greetings are not.
The Senate Appropriations Committee has approved its parallel bill which funds senator office expense accounts at $425 million next year, up $25 million from the current year.

The Obamacare horror story you won't hear

Michelle Malkin

The White House, Democrats and MoveOn liberals are spreading healthcare sob stories to sell a government takeover. But there's one healthcare policy nightmare you won't hear the Obamas hyping. It's a tale of poor minority patient-dumping in Chicago -- with first lady Michelle Obama's fingerprints all over it. Both Republican Sen. Charles Grassley of Iowa and Democratic Rep. Bobby Rush of Illinois have raised red flags about the outsourcing program run by the University of Chicago Medical Center. The hospital has nonprofit status and receives lucrative tax breaks in exchange for providing charity care.

Yet, in fiscal year 2007, when Mrs. Obama was employed there, it spent a measly $10 million on charity care for the poor -- 1.3 percent of its total hospital expenses, according to an analysis performed for The Washington Post by the nonpartisan Center for Tax and Budget Accountability. The figure is below the 2.1 percent average for nonprofit hospitals in surrounding Cook County.

Rep. Rush called for a House investigation last week in response to months of patient-dumping complaints, noting: "Congress has a duty to expend its power to mitigate and prevent this despicable practice from continuing in centers that receive federal funds."

Don't expect the president to support a probe. While a top executive at the hospital, Mrs. Obama helped engineer the plan to offload low-income patients with non-urgent health needs. Under the Orwellian banner of an "Urban Health Initiative," Mrs. Obama sold the scheme to outsource low-income care to other facilities as a way to "dramatically improve healthcare for thousands of South Side residents."

In truth, it was old-fashioned cost-cutting and favor-trading repackaged as minority aid. Clearing out the poor freed up room for insured (i.e., more lucrative) patients. If a Republican had proposed the very same program and recruited black civic leaders to front it, Michelle Obama and her grievance-mongering friends would be screaming "RAAAAAAAAACISM!" at the top of their lungs.

Joe Stephens of The Washington Post wrote, "To ensure community support, Michelle Obama and others in late 2006 recommended that the hospital hire the firm of David Axelrod, who a few months later became the chief strategist for Barack Obama's presidential campaign. Axelrod's firm (ASK Public Strategies) recommended an aggressive promotional effort modeled on a political campaign -- appoint a campaign manager, conduct focus groups, target messages to specific constituencies, then recruit religious leaders and other third-party 'validators.' They, in turn, would write and submit opinion pieces to Chicago publications."

Some healthcare experts saw through Mrs. Obama and PR man Axelrod -- yes, the same Axelrod who is now President Obama's senior adviser. But the University of Chicago Medical Center hired ASK Public Strategies to promote Mrs. Obama's initiative. Axelrod had the blessing of Chicago political guru Valerie Jarrett -- now a White House senior adviser.

Axelrod's great contribution: re-branding! His firm recommended renaming the initiative after "internal and external respondents expressed the opinion that the word 'urban' is code for 'black' or 'black and poor.' ...Based on the research, consideration should be given to re-branding the initiative." Axelrod and the Obama campaign refused to disclose how much his firm received for its genius re-branding services.

In February 2009, outrage in the Obamas' community exploded upon learning that a young boy covered by Medicaid had been turned away from the University of Chicago Medical Center. Dontae Adams' mother, Angela, had sought emergency treatment for him after a pit bull tore off his upper lip. Mrs. Obama's hospital gave the boy a tetanus shot, antibiotics and Tylenol, and shoved him out the door. The mother and son took an hour-long bus ride to another hospital for surgery.

I'll guarantee you this: You'll never see the Adams family featured at an Obama policy summit or seated next to the first lady at a joint session of Congress to illustrate the failures of the healthcare system.

Following the Adams incident, the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) blasted Mrs. Obama and Axelrod's grand plan. The group released a statement expressing "grave concerns that the University of Chicago's policy toward emergency patients is dangerously close to 'patient dumping,' a practice made illegal by the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (EMTALA)" -- signed by President Reagan, by the way -- "and reflected an effort to 'cherry pick' wealthy patients over poor."

Rewarding political cronies at the expense of the poor while posing as guardians of the downtrodden? Welcome to Obamacare.

Oh wonderful. Our teacher's unions who are responsible for providing the best education system in the whole world to our children, are targeting our military. When will people start to realize that the greatest harm to our kids in this world is Teachers Unions?

Speaking of teachers unions. A Conservative school teacher in Kansas was canned, because he did not play the Messiah's inaugural address in his History Class. Why am I not Surprised?

Are Conservatives taking a page out of the Democrat playbook to fight healthcare reform? The old people have always been the thorn in politics sides.

It is official, breaking news everyone. Jews Confirm Rev. Wright Being Kept From Obama. OMFG! This is funny as hell.

According to Investor's Business Daily, the global warming bill will be a jobs killer. Exactly opposite of what Obama and the Democrats are touting. You don't say. A bill that limits free enterprise, will kill jobs!

By the way. Barbara Boxer has earned her title. According to her mindset, the General she confronted didn't earn a thing. She is such a biatch. When will the Left Coast get some sense and replace her?

'45 million Americans' -- who are those guys?

Larry Elder:
About 45 million Americans lack healthcare insurance. Or do they? A pro-"universal healthcare" television host recently cited this widely accepted "fact." The number is bogus. Here's the skinny. Start with the math. We have 300 million Americans. Subtract the 45 million -- 15 percent of us -- with no health insurance. That leaves 255 million Americans, or 85 percent, with it.

And the insurance is lousy, right? Not according to a 2006 ABC News/Kaiser Family Foundation/USA Today survey. It found that 89 percent of Americans were satisfied with the quality of their own healthcare. Nearly half of the 45 million fall in the category of my 26-year-old nephew. He smokes cigarettes, dates, eats out, goes to movies and, like all young people, lives through his cell phone. With a slight change in priorities, he could afford health insurance, the cost of which at his age and health starts at about $100 a month. Take a look at a Reason Foundation video of interviews with a bunch of non-health-insured 20-somethings.

After Obama Fails

A failed presidency for Barack Obama could turn into liberalism's worst nightmare. Barely six months into his term, the 44th president has succeeded in generating the most widespread and serious discussion of secession since the Civil War. Despite what Newsweek's Evan Thomas may claim, Obama is not the "God" who will bring us together but the autocratic sponsor of an overbearing, oppressive leviathan from which a growing number of Americans are seeking refuge.
That refuge, according to author Paul Starobin, will come in the form of several regional republics that reflect the diverse character of Americans no longer bound in any meaningful way by our unrecognizable Federal government. In a riveting exploration of America 's coming breakup, Starobin writes in a recent Wall Street Journal article:
"Picture an America that is run not, as now,
by a top-heavy Washington autocracy but, in freewheeling
style, by an assemblage of largely autonomous regional republics
reflecting the eclectic economic and cultural character of the society."
Starobin chronicles in fascinating detail the historical basis for America 's future balkanization. He provides a snapshot of today's most viable and vocal secessionist organizations. Starobin goes on to argue that the overbearing and stifling "Obama planners and their ilk" will probably be doomed to fail in a land replete with the Jeffersonian impulse of radical self-determination. Obama's extreme power grab, in other words, will cause a correspondingly extreme backlash:
"All of this adds up to a federal power grab that might make even
FDR's New Dealers blush. But that's just the point:
Not surprisingly, a lot of folks in the land of Jefferson
are taking a stand against an approach that stands to
make an indebted citizenry yet more dependent on an
already immense federal power.
The backlash, already under way,
is a prime stimulus for a neo-secessionist movement,
the most extreme manifestation of a broader push for some form of devolution."
By focusing most of his attention on how big unwieldy entities devolve into creative little ones, Starobin's analysis misses however the more direct personal role Barack Obama himself has played in fracturing America.
Back in March of last year for example New York Times columnist Roger Cohen told his audience he could "understand the rage" of Obama's former pastor Rev. Jeremiah Wright. Without missing a beat Cohen then concluded in his essay that the "clamoring now in the United States for a presidency that uplifts rather than demeans is a reflection of the intellectual desert of the Bush years."
Has Barack Obama's been an "uplifting" presidency? Mr. Obama knew full well that his Supreme Court nominee, Sonia Sotomayor, dismissed the test results of white firefighters in New Haven, Connecticut, entitled to promotion but denied because they were of the wrong race. Surely her decision is demeaning to both white males and to those who study diligently for exams. Did the black firefighters feel uplifted or demeaned when Sotomayor ruled in their favor? Was the New Haven firehouse more unified or more divided after Sotomayor's ruling? Was Obama's Sotomayor choice uplifting or demeaning?
Indeed, from the Sotomayor pick and anti-business rhetoric to the endless lecturing about America 's sins, Mr. Obama is starting to sound a lot like his former pastor. To be sure Obama is not as grating and shrill as Mr. Wright but closer to something more like Jeremiah-lite. In other words, Mr. Obama's strategy seems to be to convince Americans to drink his socialist tonic out of sheer guilt. I'm not sure what is so inspiring about all of this.
Maybe this is why Starobin claims to be witnessing a lot of neo-secessionist activity. Wouldn't a new American devolution however be a liberals worst nightmare? Beyond the psychosis most liberals would have to endure at the thought of losing any kind of control, the prospect of vibrant, happy, and successful conservative republics in places like Texas, South Carolina or Utah would be an inescapable spotlight forever exposing the failure of liberal ideology in a Republic of California.
But this brings up another problem. When the framers of the American Constitution favored a multi-state solution to the problem of centralized tyranny they argued that an additional benefit would be that each state could become a unique laboratory displaying the policy successes and failures to its neighbors. If the Republic of Texas chooses a classics curriculum for its youngsters, celebrates the family and tradition in its media, encourages personal responsibility in lieu of a nanny state, rewards citizens on the basis of merit, is tough on criminals, sends its politicians home after brief excursions to the capitol, is business friendly and generally leaves its citizens alone, how are those controlling the politically liberal Republics like California going to react?
What most liberals fail to understand is that their leisurely dabbling in progressive politics and moral equivalency is made possible by the existence of accumulated conservative moral capital. Remove the conservative anchor and progressive societies become dangerously seasick. I guess the lesson here is that liberals need conservatives more than conservatives need liberals (although society needs them on occasion). There is much in progressive ideology that simply seeks to undermine -- a strange method of establishing an identity.
While reading "A Little History of the World" to my kids the other day I came across an interesting observation by the author, E.H. Gombrich:
"Because the Egyptians were so wise and so
powerful their empire lasted for a very long time.
Longer than any empire the world has ever known:
nearly three thousand years.
And they took just as much care of their corpses,
when they preserved them from rotting away,
in preserving all their ancient traditions over the centuries.
Their priests made quite sure that no son did
anything his father had not done before him.
To them, everything old was sacred."
When Obama fails it will be because he's convinced enough Americans to tire, as he has, of what used to be known as "America." Imagine what would have happened in Egypt had their priests adopted "liberation theology" rather than the standard of their fathers. A mere footnote in the pages of history.

It's on: W slams O

Former President George W. Bush fired a salvo at President Obama on Wednesday, asserting his administration's interrogation policies were within the law, declaring the private sector -- not government -- will fix the economy and rejecting the nationalization of health care.
"I know it's going to be the private sector that leads this country out of the current economic times we're in," the former president said to applause from members of a local business group. "You can spend your money better than the government can spend your money."

Krautheimer's view

Last Monday was a profound evening, Dr. Charles Krautheimer spoke to the Center for the American Experiment. He is a brilliant intellectual, seasoned & articulate. He is forthright & careful in his analysis, & never resorts to emotions or personal insults. He is NOT a fear monger nor an extremist in his comments & views. He is a fiscal conservative, & has a Pulitzer prize for writing. He is a frequent contributor to Fox News & writes weekly for the Washington Post.
This is a summary of his comments about Obama [TAKE THESE AS WARNINGS]:
****
1. Mr. Obama is a very intellectual, charming individual. He is not to be underestimated. He is a 'cool customer' who doesn't show his emotions. It's very hard to know what's 'behind the mask'. Taking over after the Clinton dynasty by a political neophyte was an amazing accomplishment. The Clinton's still do not understand what hit them. Obama was in the perfect place at the perfect time.
****
2. Obama has political skills comparable to Reagan & Clinton. He has a way of making you think he's on your side, agreeing with your position, while doing just the opposite. Pay no attention to what he SAYS; rather, watch what he DOES!
****
3. Obama has a ruthless quest for power. He did not come to Washington to make something out of himself, but rather to change everything, including dismantling capitalism. He can't be straightforward on his ambitions, as the public would not go along. He has a heavy hand, & wants to 'level the playing field' with income redistribution & punishment of the achievers of society. He would like to model the USA to Great Britain or Canada ..
****
4. His three main goals are to control ENERGY, PUBLIC EDUCATION, & NAT'L HEALTHCARE by the Fed. govt. He doesn't care about the auto or financial services industries, but got them as an early bonus. The cap & trade policy will add costs to everything & stifle growth. Paying for FREE college education is his goal. Most scary is his healthcare program, because if you make it FREE & add 46,000,000 people to a Medicare-type single-payer system, the costs will go thru the roof. The only way to control costs is with massive RATIONING of services, like in Canada .. God forbid.
****
5. He's surrounded himself with mostly far-left academic types. No one around him has ever run even a candy store. But they're going to try to run the auto, financial, banking & other industries. This obviously can't work in the long run. Obama's not a Socialist; rather a far-left Secular Progressive bent on nothing short of revolution. He ran as a moderate, but will govern from the hard left. Again, watch what he does, not what he says.
****
6. Obama doesn't really see himself as President of the USA - more as a ruler over the world. He sees himself above it all, trying to orchestrate and coordinate various countries and their agendas. He sees moral equivalency in all cultures. His apology tour in Germany & England was a prime example of how he sees America, as an imperialist nation that has been arrogant, rather than a great noble nation that has at times made errors. This is the first President ever who has chastised our allies and appeased our enemies!
****
7. He's now handing out goodies. He hopes that the bill (& pain) will not 'come due' until after he's reelected in 2012. He'd like to blame all problems on Bush from the past. He has a huge ego, and Mr. Krauthammer believes he is a narcissist.
****
8. Republicans are in the wilderness for a while, but will emerge strong. We're 'pining' for another Reagan, but there'll never be another like him. He believes Mitt Romney, Tim Pawlenty & Bobby Jindahl (except for his terrible speech in Feb.) are the future of the party. Newt Gingrich is brilliant, but has baggage. Sarah Palin is sincere & intelligent, but needs to really be seriously boning up on facts & info if she's to be a serious candidate in the future. We need to return to the party of lower taxes, smaller govt., personal responsibility, strong Nat’l defense, and states' rights.
****
9. The current level of spending is irresponsible & outrageous. We're spending trillions that we don't have. This could lead to hyper inflation, depression or worse. No country has ever spent themselves into prosperity. The media is giving Obama, Reid & Pelosi a pass because they love their agenda. But eventually the bill will come due & people will realize the huge bailouts didn't work, nor will the stimulus package. These were trillion-dollar payoffs to Obama's allies, unions & the Congress to placate the left, so he can get support for #4 above.
****
10. The election was over in mid-Sept. when Lehman brothers failed. Fear & panic swept in, we had an unpopular President, & the war was grinding on indefinitely without a clear outcome. The people are in pain, & the mantra of 'change' caused people to act emotionally. Any Dem would have won this election; it was surprising is was as close as it was.
****
11. In 2012, if the unemployment rate is over 10%, Republicans will be swept back into power. If it's under 8%, the Dems continue to roll. If it's between 8-10%, it'll be a dogfight. It'll all be about the economy.
****
I hope this gets you really thinking about what's happening in Washington & Congress. There's a left-wing revolution going on, according to Krauthammer, and he encourages us to keep the faith & join the loyal resistance. The work will be hard, but we're right on most issues & can reclaim our country, before it's far too late.

545 PEOPLE

By Charlie Reese
Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems
and then campaign against them.
Have you ever wondered, if both the Democrats
and the Republicans are against deficits,
WHY do we have deficits?

Have you ever wondered, if all the politicians are
against inflation and high taxes,
WHY do we have inflation and high taxes?

You and I don't propose a federal budget.
The president does.

You and I don't have the Constitutional authority
to vote on appropriations. The SPAN>House of Representatives does.

You and I don't write the tax code,
Congress does.

You and I don't set fiscal policy,
Congress does.

You and I don't control monetary policy,
the Federal Reserve Bank does.

One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one president,
and nine Supreme Court justices, 545 human beings
out of the 300 million are directly, legally, morally,
and individually responsible for the
domestic problems that plague this country.

I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists
for a sound reason. They have no legal authority.
They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman,
or a president to do one cotton-picking thing.
I don't care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash.
The politician has the power to accept or reject it.
No matter what the lobbyist promises,
it is the legislator's responsibility to determine how he votes.

Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing
you that what they did is not their fault.
They cooperate in this common con regardless of party.

What separates a politician from a normal human being
is an excessive amount of gall.
No normal human being would
have the gall of a Speaker, who stood up and criticized
the President for creating deficits.. The president can only
propose a budget. He cannot force the Congress to accept it.

The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land,
gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives f
or originating and approving appropriations and taxes.
Who is the speaker of the House?
Nancy Pelosi.
She is the leader of the majority party. She and fellow House members,
not the president, can approve any budget they want.
If the president vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto if they agree to.

It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million
cannot replace 545 people who stand convicted -- by present facts -- of incompetence
and irresponsibility. I can't think of a single domestic problem
that is not traceable directly to those 545 people.
When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise
the power of the federal government, then it must follow that
what exists is what they want to exist.

If the tax code is unfair,
it's because they want it unfair.

If the budget is in the red,
it's because they want it in the red.

If the Army & Marines are in IRAQ,
it's because they want them in IRAQ

If they do not receive social security but are on an elite
retirement plan not available to the people,
it's because they want it that way.

There are no insoluble government problems.

Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats,
whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish;
to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject;
to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from
whom they can take this power.

Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exists
disembodied mystical forces like "the economy," "inflation," or "politics"
that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do.
Those 545 people, and they alone, are responsible.

They, and they alone, have the power.

They, and they alone, should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses.
