(This sounds peaceful, serine, and full of comfort. Great hotel, located near everything downtown, with a 4-star restaurant at the lobby level. That was until they showed up)…

..."Tony Neal & The Core DJ’s just wrapped up a highly successful weekend in Atlanta after putting on its 10th annual Retreat. The W Hotel in downtown played host for the event, which was filled with lots of information and networking opportunities for up and coming artists & DJ’s alike.
The retreat, which lasted from Friday (April 24) thru Sunday, went very smoothly for the most part, minus the bus delays to Justin’s Restaurant (due to downtown road construction) and the move of the CTE artist showcase to the Loft.
The conferences/panels were no different than any other conference, such as the TJ’s, DJ’s conferences, but beneficial to those who have never attended a conference before. Industry veteran Wendy Day was one of many industry insiders for the “In The Know” panel, which provided tips and keys to success in the hip-hop industry. Each night concluded with a club event that was followed by an after-party for the late night owls.
Overall, the entire weekend was a great success. Aside from the groupies who flocked to the several artists who came through, and the self-proclaimed “media” who got in the way of real media outlets, I would definitely attend this event again."...

I love the way the writer of this article just praises how well the weekend went. As most of my readers know, I reside in Atlanta, but what you may not know, is that I work in a restaurant attached to the W Hotel. It is a great 4-star steak house, where the Chef’s strive for culinary excellence, and the service is top notch. Our Sommelier won the youngest sommelier award in the Southeast, and is an encyclopedia of everything wine. The weekend of this DJ hip hp event killed us. When you have conventions at any hotel, it can be busy with people going back and forth, but very rarely do see you loitering. (That is until this event).
Here is what happened. Hundreds of people blocking the entrance to valet at the hotel and restaurant. Women dressed up to look like prostitutes, and people that looked like gang-bangers. The restaurant had over twenty no-shows, and forty cancelations in one night. Can you blame the people? If I drove by with my family and saw that, I would keep driving and eat somewhere else. The multiple upscale bars in the hotel had to close down because people were ordering drinks without paying for them, and they were running out of liquor. The sidewalks, parking lots, and adjacent streets were covered with trash from little things like fliers, up to cd’s, fast food trash, garbage bags, hair-weaves, and more. It looked like a land fill.
Oh, wait it gets better. An employee of the W was accosted by a group of people there and she barely got away, and avoided being raped. However, they left souvenirs of their kindness to their fellow man. Some came into the restaurant to eat…And this is where it gets good. Remember, 4-star restaurant. The first thing you think about is nice dress, manners, and enjoyment. Not for this group. Women came in with shorts so short that they were practically thongs. T-shirts twisted and tied to show as much cleavage as possible. Other people wearing wife-beater t-shirts, and everyone wearing hats. Fifteen came in, stayed over an hour, five of them ate. The women pulled off her top with breasts exposed, and one man starting sucking on it. This is in the main dining room! Could we have kicked them out? Yes, but then every web site and Liberal news outlet would have yelled racism and then theirs the lawsuits, and god knows what else. When they left, their bill was around five hundred dollars. Some tried to avoid paying, but we got to them before they left. Now, a five hundred dollar meal at 20% tip is one hundred dollars. They left a grand total of $1.12.
Wake Up America. Every generation has adults that just shake their heads at what their kids listen to. In the 50’s-60’s it was the Beatles and Elvis. The 70’s it was Disco, and the 80’s in was Van Halen and Guns N Roses. The nineties and onward is when this type of music came out in full swing. With the music came the mentality. I grew up in the eighties and I rebelled with long head-bangers hair, and played music, but I never for an instant would do the things that these people did that weekend. I’m not a racist, even though I’m sure I’ll get comments stating that I am. Some of my best friends are black. One of them said to us, I’m not black this weekend because I’m ashamed of these people. Of course, the mentality is that this black friend of mine is a sell-out. This is the culture we have today, and it is slowly getting worse. Their are parents out their that allow their kids to wear clothes that these people wear, and do not teach self-respect for themselves or others. This is how Barrack Obama was elected. These people who know nothing about politics, yet they can vote.
