Austin ER's got 2,678 visits from 9 people over 6 years.
"Do no harm" is part of the Hippocratic Oath that all doctors take upon graduation from Medical School. It is a time honored tradition that lets people know that your doctor will do everything in his or her power to stop your pain, and help you on the road to recovery. This is of course every doctor accept for those who work in the abortion department. Do no harm is not part of their creed, for they are doing harm. When a patient comes into a Public Hospital (Tax Payer Funded), by law they cannot be turned away if they do not have insurance, unless it is a Private Hospital (Non-Tax Payer Funded).
In a way, this is already Socialized Medicine to a small degree. A hospital will treat you and make sure that it is not life threatening, and then if you have a major problem, you are transferred to a different hospital, typically a non-profit to have your surgery. This is where Socialized Medicine comes into play. Once passed by Obama's Teleprompter and Pelosi, the patient will not have to be transferred. They stay at that hospital. The Non-Profit Hospitals will dwindle down to non-existence. Then as the predicted yearly budget goes 200 times higher than they quote, the Government will begin cutting costs by closing down Clinics, lowering the staff, and putting people on waits to see a doctor for any non-life threading illness. If they are over 55 years old, then they go to the lowest priority of care. This is how it works in Europe and Canada and that is why those in Europe who can afford to, will fly to the United States for Healthcare.
Here is where we come to our story. In the past six years, eight people from Austin and one from Luling racked up 2,678 emergency room visits in Central Texas, costing hospitals, taxpayers and others $3 million, according to a report from a nonprofit made up of hospitals and other providers that care for the uninsured and low-income Central Texans. One of the nine spent more than a third of last year in the ER: 145 days. That same patient totaled 554 ER visits from 2003 through 2008.
This is a report on nine people, costing us three million dollars. Imagine a system under the Democrats that will allow 300 million people to do the same. Now granted, only about 15% of the population will do this, but take that 15% and multiply the numbers. Now you see why in Massachusetts that the Health Care budget doubled over a two-year period.
An example of this in my hometown here in Atlanta. We have Grady Hospital, where the famed Doctor Sanjay Gupta of CNN works. They are publicly funded, but have one of the only trauma centers in the city. If you are in an accident, which happens a lot because Atlanta’s Transportation System sucks, then you go to Grady. The Joke is when you are in an accident, you tell the ambulance driver, “I’ll pay you if you don’t take me to Grady.”
They have had many financial issues over the past few years and had to cut back massively in order to keep receiving city funds (taxpayer’s money). You see Grady takes everyone in Atlanta without Insurance, and they visit constantly no matter what the illness is. This is what happens under a Socialized Universal Health Care System. Once people here that it is FREE, they keep coming back. If they had to pay, they would take better care of themselves, and visit less.
To end this story on a sour note for you to pass on to people who support Government run Socialized Health Care, then let me tell you about my Mother. She was a half British/American citizen. She lived in England the last few years of her life. She had Multiple Sclerosis, and she felt that the English system would take better care of her than the American system would. At the time, I was a teenager and did not know any better; otherwise, I would have begged her to stay. As the years past, all I heard every time I talked to her was how bad the Health care system was, and how she wanted to come back here, but could not afford to come back. I did not have the money to bring her back. In 1999, she fell ill and was taken to a local English Hospital where she spent two weeks. Then the horrible news came. She passed away. They discovered this on the 29th of October. She had died on the 27th of October. For two days she laid dead in a hospital bed in a Universal Socialized Government funded Hospital. They had little staff and even less doctors, with hundreds of patients. When they discovered her, her I.V. had not been changed, her bedpan was days old, and god knows what else, that they did not tell me. This is a symptom of Socialized health care. If you want to see a good example of it here in the United States, visit a V.A. Hospital sometime and see how Government funding treats or heroes. The worst thing of all about my Mothers case is that because she was treated in a Government Hospital, I could not sue for malpractice. The Hospital and Doctors were protected by the Government. In Conclusion, my Mother was murdered by the British Government, she was murdered by Socialists. Now Obama wants to bring the same thing to us. Do you want Obama to murder your family members?

Don't believe Michael Moore's "Sicko" Movie. Do your research.
