Reality Check
Hey Sean Penn,
Really, come on and give me a break. Why should I be ashamed because I oppose Gay Marriage? For those who missed it, (and I was one of them) at the Oscars on Sunday night, the great Sean Penn mentioned that those people out there who appose Gay Marriage should be ashamed of themselves. Tell me, why should I be ashamed to have an apposing viewpoint. Is that not what makes this country great, to have people who agree and disagree on certain topics. Maybe that was okay in the past, but today, if you appose a viewpoint of the Leftist Socialists, then you are to be chastised and ridiculed. Political Correctness has been like a virus slowly affecting the world over the past twenty years, and now it has become the norm. Personally, I have many Gay friends; to me they are normal people, with a different sexual preference. Do I have to avoid them because I do not swing the way they do? No. I do not support Gay Marriage, but I do support Gay Unions. Marriage is defined as a union between a man and a woman. This is how it should stay. However, a Union between two people for the purpose of last wills and testaments and tax breaks…why not.
Naturally, I have received bad glances from Conservatives because of my support for Union, and my negative support for a Constitutional Amendment to ban Gay Marriage. Well, I am a Constitutionalist, not a Republican. I believe that Government has no right to decide positively or negatively to this or any other issue. This should be left up to the States and the people. As we saw with Prop 8 in California, the people in mass said no. Who are the largest groups of voters in California…Democrats? Who supports and Rams down the throat of everyone the idea of support for Gay Marriage…Democrats. So, what is being said here? The new President has a stance on this issue also. He also apposes Gay Marriage. He is a Democrat. Should Obama be ashamed? Should all the Democrats in California be ashamed? Sean Penn meant to be insulting the groups that are actively against Gay Marriage. Church groups and Conservatives. What about the Democrats Sean?
For once, I wish that the Hollywood crowd would actually award a movie for the acting, not its political messages. If it is anti Republican, and pro Democrat, then it will win. Instead, the people in charge of handing out the awards should have watched “Frost/Nixon” and see Frank Langella performance, and see that without a doubt that he should have won Best Actor. Instead, a politically motivated idea won the award. The Oscars only got one thing right this year. That was the Best Supporting Actor Award to the Late Heath Ledger for his fabulous performance as Joker in the “Dark Knight.”
Its time for a reality check Hollywood.
