3 Presidents, 2 Parties, And 1 Action In Common

What do Presidents Hoover, Truman, and Eisenhower all have in common when it came to Presidential policies during times of economic crises and job creation?
President Hoover had The Great Depression to deal with. Truman had Veterans returning from World War Two that needed employment, and President Eisenhower faced both Korean Veterans needing employment, and an economic downturn.
Here was there answer to solve these great burdens to the American Economy.
Back during the beginning of The Great Depression 1929-1940, President Herbert Hoover ordered the deportation of all illegal aliens in order to make jobs available to American citizens that desperately needed work. This led to what is known today as the Mexican Repatriation. Of course as soon as FDR came into office, he reversed this legislation, but local communities continued to follow The Hoover Plan.
In 1951 President Harry Truman deported over two million Illegals in order to create open jobs for Veterans returning from World War Two. Though the war ended in 1945, and their was a major economic boom, Truman made it a priority to make sure that the Veterans had jobs first. Truman served as a soldier in World War One. It seems funny how Presidents that served their country, care more about Veterans than those who do not serve. (Clinton, Obama). It makes you wonder that if you are going to be the Commander and Chief of the United States Armed Forces, than you should serve in one of the branches, so you know what they are going through, before you make the decision to send them off in harms way. Now of course anti-W folks will say he did not see combat, and they are right, but he did go through basic training, and he did serve, even though it was a short period of time. He put in a greater effort than Draft-Dodging Clinton, or Obama ever did. (To give the eligibility people a laugh: You can't serve unless your a citizen!!!)
Finally in 1954, President Dwight Eisenhower deported 13 million Mexican Nationals! This program took almost two years to complete. America was going through a small economic crises, and jobs were slim. President Eisenhower did this so Korean Veterans would have a better chance at finding jobs. The program and I kid you not was called "Operation Wetback."
President Eisenhower was the last such President in American History to control Illegal Immigration until President Ronald Reagan, who did not actually do any massive deportations, but he put stronger restrictions in place for border crossings. From 1978-1983, The United States entered the deepest recession ever since the Great Depression. This recession was worse than our current 2007-2010 Recession, though we are coming close. President Jimmy Carter did not deport any Illegals weather they be Mexican or any other nationality. Unemployment rose to the double digits, and jobs were impossible to find. Mexicans like in today's Recession went back on their own accord, because they new that jobs were hard to find.
The main question for today is, why doesn't Obama do the same thing that Hoover, Truman, and Eisenhower did? Unemployment is 9.4% and rising. His Stimulus is making things worse. There are now an estimated 20 million Illegal Aliens in this country. Most, if not all are working. Those that are not, are going back to Mexico on their own. How many of those 2o million pay Income Taxes? How many have kids that go to our schools that we tax payers pay for? How many go to the Emergency Room and do not pay, which raises the overall cost of our doctor visits? How much money do we spend on the Immigration issue? Enough is enough. I strongly support the American Dream of coming here, and building a life for anyone and their families. But at the same time, their are laws in place, and those laws must be followed. We are a country that has a "Rule of Law" for a reason. If you want to come here and work and live, great. But do it legally.

  1. While I agree with the deportations and think we should do that again, I find your republican bias to much to handle

  2. Trespassers do not "deserve" to be "adopted". If you disagree, I know of about 13 million who are up for adoption by the current resident of the White House. This is not an issue of partisan politics, it is an issue of legal versus illegal aliens. By the way, I am an independent, Vietnam Veteran, Oath Keeper, and, according to the DHS, a potential radical right wing conservative terrorist.
